Game Over...

The troubles keep mounting for Pacman Jones. In addition to his most recent problems with the Altanta Police, he now has actuall charges pending against him from a previous incident. A pair of felony charges have been filed against him in Las Vegas over the February shooting incident at a strip club. Until now, Jones could at least try to appeal his year long NFL suspension because there were no actual charges against him. With these new charges, his NFL career is almost certainly order. Game over, No replay, do not insert new coin.

The miracle season is over for the AntEaters. The UC Irvine Anteaters were beat by the defending champion Oregon St Beavers in the College World Series semifinals today. The Beavers/Eaters game was not much of a contest, with Oregon dominating the entire time. But the entire event is a victory for Irvine. Even the President of the United States proclaimed himself a member of 'Eater Nation prior to the game. The team is on the map now. They will be back next year. Anteater mascot dolls are flying off the shelves now, and 'Eater Nation' merchandise is the hottest thing in town.

The PGA announced it will start drug testing soon. This is just silly to me. How many golfers do you really think are juiced up on steroids when they hit the links? We just don't see golfers bench pressing 400 lbs in the gym. What would they have to gain from it? Sure it might help them drive the ball farther from the tee, but its not going to help them win many tourneys. Golf is a game (NOT A SPORT) of accuracy. Steriods might help you hit the ball harder, but its not going to help you sink a 16 ft put. Concentration, discipline, and accuracy win golf games, not strength.
If golf wants to do something to clean up the game, then do something about the silly looking cloths these guys wear when they play.

Quick Thoughts...

Its been a while since I have updated anything here. I apologise for that... sometimes life just gets in the way. Things should pick up again around here now. Keep your fingers crossed.

Pacman Jones is in trouble AGAIN. The kid just does not know when to keep a low profile. After another shooting at a strip club, he is wanted for questioning by Atlanta police. This pretty much dooms his NFL career. He once said he would choose his friends over his career any day. It seems he is holding true to that promise. Its sad to see such great talent wasted. He could have been one of the greats in the game.

LaVar Arrington was hospitalized Monday with serious but not life-threatening injuries after his motorcycle crashed on a highway ramp. This will almost certainly lead to an NFL rule that prohibits players from riding motorcycles. At the very least, we can count on every team including a clause in the player contracts that prohibits the activity. And we can probobly expect another fight between the Player's Union and the League because of it.

Alexi Lalas claims that the MLS is superiour to English Premiership soccer. Lalas said the only reason the English league is popular is because of American-style marketing. If thats the case, then why is the MLS not successful in its own marketing efforts? When was the last time you saw a sold out MLS game?

Get ready for the BEAVER/'EATERS game! The College World Series could see a matchup between the Oregon Beavers and the UC Irvine Anteaters (who use the name 'Eaters on thier jerseys.) I can't wait to listen to the ESPN play-by-play on the Beaver-Eaters game. It should provide many unintentionally hilarious comments.
