Monday Morning Review...

Its Monday morning, so this would be a good time to let everyone know what happened after they blacked out Friday night.

Speaking of blacking out, some jackass got drunk and fell from an upper deck at Yankee Stadium last week. The story was not widely reported until this weekend for some reason. Normally this would be really hilarious and I would have all sorts of jokes about it, but the incident turned ugly. The drunk fan landed on a tourist who was sitting in the stands below. The unsuspecting victim suffered a broken neck but is suspected to make a full recovery after a successful surgery to stabilize the vertabrae.
This leads to the question: If a drunk falls from the top of Yankee Stadium, what are the odds of him landing on a tourist?

The Matchup for ARENABOWL XXI is set. The Columbus Destroyers will meet the San Jose Sabercats in New Orleans to determine the new AFL champion on Sunday, July 29. The game will be shown on ABC. If you have never watched Arena Football, you are missing an incredibly exciting sport. There is not much of a running game, but lots of deep passes and hard hitting. I just don't understand how any football fan can fail to enjoy the AFL.
My prediction for the game: San Jose will win in a blowout.

David Beckham and his wife have now officially joined the LA Galaxy. Victoria Beckham will not actually wear a uniform or play in the games, but she is now certainly part of the team's overall media marketing strategy. Odds are we will see more footage of her at the games than we will see of her husband.

And whats with the stupid nickname the team has given David Beckham?
If you watched the press conferance on Saturday, you would have seen a large banner welcoming David 'Golden Balls' Beckham. Somehow I just don't think that nickname will catch on in the locker room. But it could prove popular if he ever goes to play in San Fransisco....

Alonzo Mourning will return to the NBA for one more season. ESPN is reporting that 'three months of suspense about his future' have ended now that he has announced he will return to play again. SUSPENSE? REALLY? We're sports fans really losing sleep wondering if he will play again? Did the Miami Heat draft strategy suffer because they did not know if Mourning would be back again? Let's be realistic here. Mourning is a class act and one of the most beloved players in the game, but he has not been a dominant factor in the league for a long time. I am happy to see him back, but the league would not have been devastated without him. I wish him the best this season, though. I really do enjoy watching him play.
